Wild, kind, and ready to include anyone willing in his adventures, Ottersplash is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to finding the brighter side of life. He has a confident, carefree energy about him, radiates friendly warmth. It's no surprise he prefers a wide variety of friends. Otter especially enjoys singling out the quieter cats, the newer ones, those who don't seem comfortable in their own skin -- hoping he can make them feel accepted enough to be themselves.

He can be dramatic for the effect, the kind of cat to transform mundane tasks into legendary quests that bring honor and prestige to StarClan for the fun of it. He's been running from boredom [and maybe some suppressed emotional trauma] all his life, and so far, it hasn't caught him.

His particular brand of humor is a mix of arrogant and self-deprecating. In one breath Otter will compliment himself on his devastatingly good looks, and in the next, declare he has the romantic appeal of a tadpole.

In reality, Otter can be quite romantic. A lover of creativity, he's seduced by the courage to be unusual. This turns Otter into quite the unintentional rebel. He doesn't mean to rulebreak- they just get in the way, ya know?

Though Otter has qualities that make for an easy, loyal friend, he lets few cats through his walls. The thing is? His walls are so lovely from the outside, decorated, welcoming and beautiful--the perfect simulation of an interior. Few ever realize they've been shut outside; sometimes Otter doesn't even realize it himself.
Depth in relationships is a struggle for Otter. Talking about real things, or rather- things real to him? Well he'd rather do anything than acknowledge the insecurities below the surface of his smile. For those who dig enough to feel that resistance, Ottersplash might seem like a shallow cat, and yes - he tries to be. He really does. He's most hostile to those who try to pull things out of him he isn't willing to give.

Ott is a self-professed procrastinator, go-with-the-flow guy. He can be impulsive, leaping without thinking, trusting his instincts over reason. Despite being able to laugh off most insults, given the right comments, he bruises easy. Being sensitive as well as having conflict avoidance tendencies? Ha! Otter tries to just be okay if someone offends him. This excellent tactic leaves certain things to fester till they become overblown, worse conflicts than they ever had to be.

Brief History
​
Most cats don't know this, but Ottersplash grew up a loner; he was the classic abandoned-orphan story (which is why he never brings this up.) As a little ginger kit, he came to know hunger, thirst, and the bitter sting of the elements, but what hurt Otter most was the loneliness.
When a RiverClan warrior found him, he was overjoyed at the thought of just having someone around again. His whole being quaked at the thought of proximity! Joining RiverClan was a no-brainer. Ottersplash craved connection, the thrill of belonging somewhere, the cats who would become his clanmates.
Because Otter had only known the worst of life in his beginning moons, he didn't know any better when the mental and physical abuse of the RiverClan cat who found him cemented his escapism tendencies. Besides... this cat freed him, right? They gave him a family. He shouldn't stand up to them. Otter doesn't talk about this part of life much- doesn't much remember it, either, because he's pushed it away far enough that it can't be easily retrieved.
​
Despite this experience, despite every negative experience, Ottersplash's love for his new family grew. He was made for clan life and the exhilaration surrounding unshakable bonds of loyalty. Otter wanted to do the best he could do, be the best he could be, and most of all: continue to stave off the bitter taste of the past.
​
All in all, it was a good life. He fell in love with his best friend, met two incredible cats he continues to treasure, and forged many lesser connections over his short time. (There might've been some crippling depression, anxiety, and deep deep repression going on, but HEY let's look at the positives.)
