Appearance
​
Brightkit’s pelt is black like the sky with no moon or stars, save for a white tuft of fur on his belly. He is told he looks quite like his father. The little tom has deep blue eyes, the color of the tranquil waters found within RiverClan territory. It’s easy to tell that the kit has boundless energy. You see it in the way he runs, skitters, and shuffles about—never walking, padding, or sauntering at all. While Brightkit is well meaning, he doesn’t have good balance. In fact, he can be quite clumsy. It follows that this little black ball of zeal is particularly disruptive to elders and sleeping warriors.

Personality
Curious, idealistic, friendly, oblivious— Brightkit was named more for his remarkably optimistic spirit than his coat of black fur. He’s extremely open and willing to talk with cats of all ages, ranks and experiences, regardless of whether they’re open to talk with him. It’s a common occurrence for Brightkit to tumble into a cat—whether apprentice, elder or clan leader, he doesn’t care—and smile brightly before he asks one hundred and one questions about what they’re doing, no signs of stopping in sight. Talking a cat’s ear off is the little tom’s next favorite activity after smothering them with questions. Brightkit’s topics of conversation range from complaining about his brother, Stormtalon, to describing the ladybug he saw in the Nursery with vivid detail. You really never know what you’re going to get.
He’s well meaning and kind, but somewhat blunt and oblivious to all subtlety—and perhaps a tad forgetful. He forgets little things but takes the important ones to heart. Maybe he won’t recall what your favorite color is, even though you’ve repeated it a number of times, but he’ll remember what makes you smile. Brightkit has a very big heart, and he accepts all cats into it with very little judgement. He trusts easily and freely, wanting to believe in others and see their best qualities over their faults.
Bluntness occurs somewhat because of obliviousness, but also because Stormtalon always taught him to be honest. Sometimes, Brightkit can be far too honest, accidentally hurting feelings or bruising egos without knowing. Brightkit can also be rebellious and shortsighted. The small tom-cat thinks of rules as constraining, and dearly loves to wander outside the lines (to his brother’s eternal dismay). He has a tendency to hyper focus on his interests, unintentionally ignoring those around him, seeing the world through tunnel vision. Brightkit resists when told what to do but not why, having been known to brood if cats don’t answer his questions. This becomes a problem…especially when those telling him what to do happen to be clan warriors.
He’s impulsive, doing what brings him happiness and wishing to bring others the same. Brightkit’s restlessness knows no cure. The little tom-cat is always moving, his energy as boundless as his tongue is loose. There’s a natural intelligence about him, a humble, unassuming one that colors every question he thinks of, sometimes shocking his elders with unique phrasing or attention to detail. For the most part, he rolls compliments and insults off his back without thinking too much on them. He’s not boastful or arrogant so much as preoccupied with his next interest, his next fascination.

Brief History
​
Brightkit and his older brother Stormtalon were abandoned by their mother shortly following Brightkit’s birth. Rumors circulated through the camp that Silverfish left to search for their father, a black tom who had disappeared a few moons before, who everyone says Brightkit resembles. A kind queen with three mewling kits of her own offered to nurse Brightkit, one who the little tom latched onto as a motherly figure ever since. Despite Stormtalon's animosity toward their parents, Brightkit hopes one day to reconnect with mother and father. He's more willing to forgive them than his brother. All he truly wants is for them to be a family again.
